An armillary sphere sits atop a map of the world which clearly shows California as an island (in reverse!- the engraver must have copied the image and engraved it backwards). In addition to this curious feature, we also see an enormous southern continent in the world sphere map. Globes sit on either side of the map. Very appealing visually, a delightful early 18th century image.

In fine clean antiquarian condition with beautiful full hand color. On a c. 6 3/8" W x 7 7/8" H sheet, image area c. 4" W x 5 3/4" H.

 5 3/4" H.
