 By Joanne Jansson.  Issued for the "Nouvel Atlas ou Theatre du Mondre. Representant l'Allemagne avec toutes sese parties, comprennant tout le Corps de l'Empire Romain" in Amsterdam , 1644.  French Edition.  At bottom right is imprint "Petrus Kaerius Caelavit".

A fine and attractive mid-17th century folio sheet map of this southern German/ Swiss region surrounding and including Basel Switzerland . We see the Rhine River at center w/ numerous cities denoted by tiny cathedrals - most prominently Basel . With original outline hand color and an attractive title cartouche w/ two topless winged women.

In VG+ to near excellent clean condition w/ an overall very appealing visual effect; old repair on the reverse is not at all noticeable from the front. Very framable.  An uncommon mid-17th century map.

Sheet measures c. 22 1/2" x 19 1/4".  Image area measures c. 20" x 15".
