Very detailed showing railroads, rivers, towns and cities as they existed during the Civil War. Thus, all of the place names, travel routes and rail lines depicted relate to this era and conflict. Inset at bottom right depicts cross-section "Rebel Works for the Defense of the New Inlet Entrance to Cape Fear River. The Fort bearing W. by N...Sketch furnished by Navy Dept."
