An issue from the weekly Civil War era journal. Lightly soiled with edge wear and short edge tears. Large double sheet centerfold by Winslow Homer depicts a battle scene, "The War for the Union, 1862 - A Bayonet Charge." Single sheet engraving, "Birds-eye View of Richmond and the Vicinity; front depicts Major General Lewis Wallace, Brigadier-General George F. Shepley and the Battle at St. Charles in White River, Arkansas. Also includes engravings of the Old Hampton Church, Army of the Potomac, Major-General Benjamin F. Butler, Major-General John Pope, Noel Vanstone and the "Kingfisher" off the coast of Florida. Folded along the center.
