A large, and quite beautiful, mid-17th century engraved map with lovely hand color.  Shows ancient France, and parts of adjacent countries, such as Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy.  Ornate title cartouche at top left.

Appears to be a scarce mid-17th century Mercator map, in VG+ to near excellent condition.  Fold line, as issued, with a couple of minor extraneous creases. A splendid hand colored map w/ 17th century charm - much nicer in person as the images really do not do justice.  Will look fantastic framed.

Sheet measures c. 21" x 16 1/2."  Image area measures c. 16" x 13 1/2."
