A large detailed mid-19th century folio sheet Johnson map with full original hand color. We see carriage roads, rivers and canals as they existed in Civil War era Illinois. The image area is framed by a lovely patterned scroll border.
In VG+, clean antiquarian condition for this fine large mid-19th century Johnson map. Exhibits light toning, nothing severe or detracting and overall very appealing visually (hardly worth mentioning). Right fold line with a splits, readily mended. Wide margins at top and bottom display some light dampstaining, outside the framework so of no consequence. Perfect for framing, with a nice age patina.
Sheet measures 26" H x 18." Map area measures 23" H x 17."
