Note: To view available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. An elegant, well engraved and remarkably detailed mid-18th century folio sheet battle plan of this important battle. Includes extensive details of the battle lines, with many men on horseback. Shows extensive detailed troop movements and fortifications throughout the area. The title within the large decorative cartouche in the lower right corner. Around the cartouche are seen cannons, flags, trumpets, etc. VG+ mostly clean condition. A couple of tiny short stray ink lines and a hint of offsetting, but still with nice visual appeal. Top margin trimmed narrow as issued. Here is a brief description we found on-line regarding the battle depicted on this plan: (28 Sep 1708): A conventional battle plan with interesting wagon train vignette and explanatory key in a large ornamental cartouche. Battle between Allies under Maj Gen Webb with about 6,000 troops and the French under Count de la Motte with 11-12,000. Webb withstood the French attacks, which were repulsed with great loss, and by nightfall the French were in retreat after an Allied loss of only 138 killed and 800 wounded.
