Note: To view available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. Published Amsterdam, 1631 for Gerard Mercator's "Atlas Minor." A nice example with lovely full hand color; numerous important towns are highlighted by tiny cathedral symbols, then in red. We see a small portion of the coast of England at upper left. Title sits within a strapwork cartouche as does the distance scale. Sheet measures c. 8 3/4" W x 6 1/2 " H, image area c. 7 1/2" W x 5 1/2 " H. In VG+ to near excellent clean condition. A desirable and lovely early 17th century map of coastal northern France including Chartres, Belle Isle, Nantes, Amien, etc. from this scarce and now very expensive atlas.
