A wonderful mid-19th century steel engraved view of the campus of Amherst College in Massachusetts. Several buildings are depicted, with numerous people strolling about.
Surrounded by vignette decoration and scenes, including the arrival of the Puritans and the visit of an Indian chief. A paddle boat is at the top. A scarce and lovely view, very much in the style of Bartlett. In near fine clean condition. Beautifully hand colored.
Sheet measures 10 3/4 " W x 7 " H, image measures 9 " W x 6 1/4 " H. Very nice view relating to this college and uncommon so attractively hand colored. Our experience has taught us that nice 19th century views of Amherst college are few and far between.
