"The Expedition of Hannibal, General of the Carthaginians according to Livy, & Cornelius Nepos," issued in 1726, London, by Herman Moll. An attractive, beautifully hand colored early 18th century engraved map depicting the ancient expedition of Hannibal in the Mediterrean region in Europe. Shows the northern coast of Africa, including the city of Carthage, Spain, Gaul (France), and Italy which encompassed the region they dominated. Names the islands of Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily; smaller islands are also depicted. Show major mountain ranges, including the prominent Atlas Mountains stretching all of the way across northern Africa, as well as major rivers. Contains a number of ancient place names. In VG+ to near excellent, clean condition, with a clean paper repair made in the upper center margin to the reverse to back some tiny worm holes (barely noticeable, outside the neat line and not detracting).
