A lovely and very uncommon engraved view of the inside of the Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Georgia. The view from the altar or pulpit, looking to the rear of the church with the entry doors as the focal point, shows the pews, classically-styled pillars, the balcony, and the magnificent ceiling. Two tiny figures are shown cleaning the floor. Both figures appear to be waving. The three vignettes around the central view depict "Oglethorpe Presenting the Indian Chiefs to George the 2nd (1733)," "Wesley Preaching in Georgia (1730)", and, at the top, two men with horses in front of a train crossing a railroad bridge. Lovely floral decoration are at its base and sides. Expert hand color. In VG+ antiquarian condition, with some very light scattered foxing to margins (outside of image). Sheet measures c. 10 5/8" W x 7 17/8" H; image area measures c. 8 1/2" W x 6 1/8" H. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
