"France," issued in 1753, London, by Gibson.  A gorgeous, engraved, folio map of France.  Various regions such as Normandy and Provence  arebroadly labeled.  Also shows part of England, part of Spain, Alsace and Lorraine (then part of Germany), Switzerland, and part of Italy.  Shows mountains , rivers, and even tiny trees (complete with tiny shadows!) to represent forests. Features a gorgeous, decorative cartouche and a simple compass rose topped by a fleur-de-lys.

In VG+ antiquarian condition, a couple of short old paper repairs on the reverse which are invisible from the front and hardly worth mentioning. Original fold line, as issued. With full hand color. Sheet measures c. 19" W x 14 3/4" H; image area measures c. 13" W x 11" H.

A beautifully hand colored, large folio map of France that is quite lovely, uncommon and quite desirable thus.
