A very appealing, mid19th-century, engraved map of South America. Tallis maps are renowned for their decorative quality, many of the maps displaying charming vignette scenes around the map itself. This particular map shows the Llamas and Condors of Peru, a view of Valparaiso, men descending the Cordilleras, some natives of Chile, Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian Bridge of Rope, and Gold Washing in Brazil.

In VG+ , clean condition, very attractive and visually pleasing. The map has several small original binding stitch holes along the centerfold which have been cleanly lined on the reverse with old paper.  Now they are scarcely discernible at all.  With original outline hand color.

In all, a very clean, pleasing example of this very desirable map.

Sheet measures c. 10 5/8"W x  14 3/8 "H.  Image measures c. 14 1/8" H x  10 1/8" W.
