Germany - c.1670-90
Note: to view one of 2 available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. A charming and elusive little map which defies our ability to specifically identify. Could be a Sanson or follower, likely produced in France (Paris?) late 17th century, perhaps c.1680s based upon the cartouche, engraving technique, paper and text printing on reverse, and overall "feel" of the map. Could also be somewhat earlier. Clearly scarce, and this map title does not come up in search of the CD-ROM Jolly 15 year comprehensive map record data base. In VG+ to near excellent condition. With beautiful full hand color which greatly enhances the visual appeal of the map. Scarce and a nice example. On a c. 6 7/8" W x 9 1/2" H sheet; image area c. 5 3/4" W x 7 5/8" H.
