World in Spheres - 1775
Note: To view one of 5 available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. The fantastically outlandish peninsula occupying present-day Alaska catches the eye immediately, but the freakishly large Vancouver Island, and the rather misshapen Australia are equally remarkable. Tasmania is lacking; New Zealand just a cursory outline; and Antarctica wholly absent, save a remark which reads 'terre vue par F. Drake Antarctique' (Land Seen by F. Drake, Antarctica). A wonderful and very uncommon/ scarce 18th century map with tremendous cartographic errors from an unknown source. In VG+ to near excellent condition. Original fold lines as issued. With lovely hand color. On a c. 12" W x 7 1/4" H sheet; image area c. 11" W x 5 3/4" H. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
