A lithographed and hand-colored mid-19th century map of the entire continent, by one of the major cartographic publishers working in America at this date.   This map shows national  boundaries,  names dozens of then important cities and boasts a highly decorative vine & grape cluster border.    A detailed inset shows the region of New Granada now known as Panama.  The title of this inset reads "Map Showing the Proposed Atrato-Inter-Oceanic Canal Routes, for Connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans."

In  near excellent, clean antiquarian condition on a c. 12 1/2 " W x 15 1/4 " H sheet.  A fresh and bright example of this map.
