"A Preliminary Chart of Muskeget Channel Massachusetts:" issued 1867, Wash. by the US Government Coast Survey to accompany a report on the progress of the US Coast Survey. Lithographed. A beautiful example of this fragile mid-19th century chart relating to the Massachusetts coastline. With recognition views across the bottom.

The coast is depicted in charming detail, the entire area well depicted for the mid-19th century date.  Because these government coastal survey maps were issued on a thin, almost rice paper, they are virtually always found in delicate condition, with fold lines splitting, unframable basically.

This map has been archivally cleaned and expertly lined on the reverse, then beautifully and professionally hand colored for a beautiful effect. Quite rare in this fine condition.

Sheet Measures  21 1/8 " W  x  29 1/4 " H; Image measures 20 " W x 27 3/4 " H.
