An uncommon mid-19th century map from a scarce mid-19th century German atlas with original outline hand color. In addition to depicting these Great Lakes and central US states, there are 3 detailed insets including Cincinnati, Nashville, & Lexington Kentucky environs. In the large area at the top of Wisconsin is labeled "Kupfer Region" in bold letters. Major travel roads and rail lines are depicted. A variant it seems to the same map we sold a while back which had the date of "1850" printed in place of the "1852" date on this one, leading one to conclude some changes must have been made.
In VG++ to near excellent, clean antiquarian condition, original outline hand color, with very little of the typical light foxing found on so many Meyer maps of this era on a 12 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W sheet, image measures 7 3/4" W x 10 5/8" H.
