"North America" and "Sandwich Islands", issued 1854, NY by Ensign, Bridgman & Fanning. Quite a detailed and scarce little mid-19th century map of North America with a large detailed inset across the bottom of Hawaii when they were still referred to as the Sandwich Islands. Beside Maui is an engraved note stating "2650 miles to Oregon". In coastal California is marked "Gold Region". With a gentle and appealing hand coloring.
Nice, VG+ to near fine, mostly clean condition. Sheet Measures 5 5/8" W x 9" H, image measures 4 3/4" W x 7 1/2" H.
Perfect for framing. A map many collectors might not possess. Almost certainly an example of cerographic printing.
