"Empire des Abissins", issued Frankfort, 1719 by A.M.Mallet. Mallet was a well traveled military engineer and geographer who worked in 17th century France under King Louis XIV. This wonderful map of the Abyssinia Empire in Africa is from his scarce monumental work "Description de L'Univers". A large banner title cartouche and the source of the Nile river prominent features.
Surely not a common image and very desirable thus. In near excellent, clean antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color on a c. 6 5/8" W x 8 1/8" H sheet (image size is c. 4 " W x 5 5/8" H).
