This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on the most important issues of the time period. Depicted on the cover is Henry Davis capturing the battle flag of the thirtieth Louisiana regiment, at the battle of Ezra Church. Other illustrations include: a full page illustration of admiral Farragut's fleet bombarding Fort Morgan, a large portrait of rear-admiral David G. Farragut, a half page view of Petersburg, Virginia, from the north side of the Appomatiox, a full page map showing the entire field of operations under Grant, Sherman and Farragut, a full double page illustration of Major-General George B. McClellan, Democratic canidate for the Presidency, a half page illustration of Warren's head-quarters on the Weldon road, a half page view of the James River and the bend around Farrar's island, above dutch gap, portrait of the Hon. George H. Pendelton and General Jefferson C. Davis. 

Text is about issues concerning the illustrations and other prominent issues of the time period. An interesting and historical look into America's past. Issue is 16pp.
