In VG, mostly clean and fresh condition, this weekly issue of Harpers is from Saturday, June 18, 1864. Volume 4, No. 390. This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on the most important issues of the time period. Depicted on the cover are Porter's gun-boats passing the dam in the Red River, near Alexandria, along with a depiction of Rebel cruelty - showing a starved Union Soildier. Other illustrations include: a full page illustration of the charge of Logan's troops at the Battle of Resaca, May 14, 1864, a half page illustration of Robinson's brigade, of Hooker's corps, saving the fifth Indiana Battery, May 14, 1864, a half page illustration of Geary's division diggin the guns out of a rebel battery before Resaca, on the night of May 15, 1864, a dramatic double page illustration of the campain in Virginia moving "On to Richmond", a half page illustration of canvas pontoons on the North Anna river, a quarter page illustration of the disembarkation of General Smith's troops at White House, a quarter page illustration of a fight at Cold Harbor, June 1, 1864, a three quarter page carefully prepared map of the battle-fields around Richmond, Virginia.
