This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on one of the most important events of the time, the Civil War. Depicted on the cover is Major-General A. E. Burnside, commander of the Army of the Potomac. Other illustrations include: a beautiful full page illustration of the Army of the Potomac crossing through Thoroughfare Gap, a half page view of Warrenton, Virginia, a half page depiction of General McClellan's adieux to his officers at Warrenton, Virginia, an illustration of the 'Passaic' trying her large gun at the Palisades, November 15, 1862, a half page illustration of the launch of the British Iron-Clad screw frigate 'Caledonia', thirty-four guns, at Woolwich, October 24, 1862, a touching double page depiction of General McClellan taking leave of his army, November 10, 1862, a full page Winslow Homer depiction of Thanksgiving in camp, a full page illustration of the advance-guard of the Army of the Potomac attacking the Rebels near Snickersville.
