New York: Harpers, 1862 In VG, mostly clean and fresh condition, this weekly publication of Harper's Weekly is from Saturday, October 25, 1862. volume 6, number 304. This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on one of the most important events of the time period, the Civil War. Depicted on the cover is a full page illustration of Garibaldi, wounded and a prisoner. Other illustrations include: a full page of three scenes from the campaign in Maryland, a full page of scenes in and around battle in Maryland, a full page map of Kentucky, a full page map of part of Maryland, showing the scene of a Rebel raid, a full double page of the Rebels in possession of a field after battle, a half page of Major-General Buell's army crossing the Salt River in pursuit of the Rebels, a half page of the President's visit to the army of the Potomac, a half page of war generals, a half page of scenes from Florida, and three political cartoons. Text is about events and issues surrounding the Civil War and also included is a continuing chapter in Wilkie Collins story, "No Name." An interesting and historical look into America's past.
