Volume 6, No. 293. This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on one of the most important issues of the time period, the Civil War. Depicted on the cover is a portrait of the late Martin Van Buren, ex-president of the United States. Other illustrations include: a half page depiction of the army of the Potomac at the battle of Friday, June 27th, a half page illustration of Kearny's division of the army of the Potomac fighting in the woods, Monday, June 30, a full page illustration of scenes on the march of the army of Virginia, a nice full page map of the city of Richmond, Virginia, a wonderful double page illustration of the army of the Potomac at the battle of Charles City Road, Monday, June 30, 1862, portraits of Brigadier-General Keyes and Major-General Halleck. Text is about issues concerning the Civil War, and also included is a continuing chapter of "No Name," a story by Wilkie Collins. An interesting and historical look into America's past.
