New York: Harpers, 1862. In VG+, mostly clean and fresh condition, this weekly issue of Harpers is from Saturday, April 26, 1862. Volume 6, No. 278. This fine heavily illustrated newspaper focuses on one of the most important issues of the time period, the Civil War. Depicted on the cover is a full page sketch of Major-General Halleck in the field. Other illustrations include: a full page of Big Bethel and its fortifications occupied by Union troops, a full page of the first day's firing at Yorktown, a half page map of Tennessee showing the present positions of Union and Rebel armies, two full pages of the Battle of Pittsburgh Landing, a victorious charge by the Union under General Grant, two photographs of General Pope and Commodore Foote, scenes from Island No.10, and a political cartoon. Text is about issues concerning the Civil War, and also included is a continuing chapter of "No Name," a story by Wilkie Collins. An interesting and
