"Portugal" issued c.1719, Frankfurt, by A.M. Mallet. A charming early 18th century map of Portugal with a nice Crown title cartouche and a tall ship off the coast. Beautiful full hand color.
Mallet was a well traveled military engineer and geographer who worked in 17th century France under King Louis XIV. This map is from his scarce monumental work "Description de L'Univers."
Very appealing visually, in near excellent antiquarian condition on a c.6 3/4" W x 8 1/4" H sheet, image area c. 4" W x 5 3/4" H. Attractively hand colored.
