One of a small number of maps produced in the mid-18th century of this very remote, rarely visited group of South Pacific islands. Well engraved and very pleasingly hand colored, with Schley re-engraving after the Bellin version just about contemporary with Bellin. Much scarcer than the Bellin version, from an uncommon Dutch edition of Prevost's comprehensive and monumental multi-volume quarto size historical work.
Will look wonderful once framed. In near fine antiquarian condition with beautiful full hand color on a c. 9 5/8 " H x 16 " W sheet, engraved area c. 7 3/4 " H x 15 1/8 " W.
