"Suisses", issued Lyon (France), 1705 by de la Croix for a very rare geographical grammar. Within the image at the bottom is "M. Ogier Sculp". A wonderful and visually appealing early 18th century engraved image of Swiss inhabitants surrounded by a series of coats of arms. Includes what appears to be a Swiss guard standing behind an upper class couple.
Beautifully hand colored, in clean excellent condition on a c. 6 1/8" H x 3 1/2" W, image area c. 5 1/16" H x 3 " W.
Very scarce image relating to Switzerland and not likely to be encountered very easily again.
