France - 1719 - by Mallet
A delightful and most charming early 18th century map of France with an ornate title cartouche. From a scarce printing of Mallet done in Germany in 1719 by Johann Jung. Wonderfully detailed with numerous horse drawn carriages, people, etc. Mallet was a well traveled military engineer and geographer who worked in Paris under King Louis XIV. In near excellent, clean antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color. On a c. 10 1/8 ” W x 8 ” H sheet (engraved image size is 8 1/2 " x 6 1/4 ").
