A beautifully lithographed map from the middle of the 19th century, issued in Edinburgh by the quality publisher, A. & C. Black, with the skilful color lithography executed by J. Bartholomew, printers in Edinburgh as well. From a scarce 1865 issue of Black's folio "General Atlas of the World." A nice transitional date for this map, displaying details now long vanished or over run by 20th century developments.

In excellent, clean antiquarian condition with a delicate and beautiful color lithography, which captures the visual feel and appeal of full hand color. On a c. 24 1/4 ” W x 17 1/2 ” H sheet (engraved image size is 21 3/4 " x 16 3/8 ").
