One of the charming miniature Ortelius maps issued in the 17th century, published Venice, 1667 "per Scipion Banca". A pirated (unauthorised) edition of Ortelius' "Theatro del Mondo (Theatre of the World)". A delightful map of Africa, with full expert hand color. Three tall masted ships surround the continent, with a flying sea serpent off Madagascar's coast. In excellent antiquarian condition with only minor age faults not detracting visually.

 In excellent, clean antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color. On a c.  5  1/4 ” W x  3  3/4 ” H sheet (engraved image size is 4 " x  2  3/4 ").
