United States c.1855-60 by Tardieu
A scarce mid-19th century map of the United States depicting an enlarged Texas, and a Territorial West showing numerous Indian "Districts" not normally encountered on American produced maps. A curious and unique cartographic conception of The United States in the midst of it's "Manifest Destiny" expansion. Original full hand color. From a very scarce Spanish atlas printed by Tardieu for distribution in Spain (and possibly in South America). Note: to see available close-ups of this picture, click on the area you wish to see. There is generally a close-up, usually including the cartouche or other points of interest. In excellent, clean antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color. On a c. 10 5/8 ” W x 8 1/2 ” H sheet (engraved image size is 9 7/8 " x 7 1/4 ") (small binding holes and chip along right edge). Ordering: Please email us or phone the shop to order this map.
