A wonderful miniature map of North America, engraved 1719 by A.M. Mallet, the French military engineer and geographer who worked in 17th and 18th century France under King Louis XIV. A beautiful and uncommon depiction of North America with California clearly labeled as an island, the Great Lakes in an inaccurate configuration, a strange Mt. range alluding to the Rockies, but misplaced, etc. 

 With attractive full hand color. In excellent, clean antiquarian condition.  On a c.  6 5/8 ” W x  8 ” H sheet.
