Note: to see available close-ups of this picture, click on the area you wish to see. There is generally a close-up, usually including the cartouche or other points of interest. An attractive and uncommon mid-19th century map of the United States, issued c.1850 by Major Radefeld for Meyers atlas. Of particular note are the wonderful areas in Texas highlighted green showing an area of German colony and highlighted orange for French colony. Texas boundary extends up to the Black Hills and the tip of Oregon Territory! Also, New Mexico and California in curious configurations, with an enormous "Indian Territory". An unusual map, also mentioning a "Gold Region" in California. Excellent, clean antiquarian condition with just a small stain way in lower right margin not affecting the image. Original outline hand color as issued. On a c. 12 ” W x 9 3/4 ” H sheet. Ordering: Please email us or phone the shop to order this map..
