A beautiful 1920's fine three-quarter leather binding. Ornately gilt spine with gilt devices, gilt title and raised bands. Three-quarter leather and marbled paper covered boards. Binding tight, sound and very clean; t.e.g.
Mostly very clean internally. Bound with original wraps, two full title pages and two engraved frontispieces. First steel engraved frontis depicts "et il faut tout avouer, je pensais ce que je disais" engraved by
A. F. Cosyns. Steel engraved frontis portrait of the author in volume two by Ouvre and Boilly. Title pages printed in black and red. Marbled endpapers.
In fine, clean condition. A lovely fine binding for this classic work of fiction. Scarce.
