A lovely 1920s fine dark blue and brown full leather signed binding. "Bound by Sansorski & Sutcliffe, London, England for the J. L. Hudson Company". Attractive shelf appearance with smooth spine in six gilt-ruled compartments with gilt title, author and central gilt floral devices. Boards ruled in gilt. Leather is smooth and supple. Rear board has a slight bit of light staining which is hardly noticeable. Charming patterned gilt inner dentelles. Binding tight and sound. a.e.g. 

Mostly very clean internally. Complete with over fifty illustrations and two folding maps. First folding map depicts a facsimile of a 16th century map of Cambridge; other folding map depicts a contemporary map of Cambridge. The latter map suffers a bit of extraneous creasing else both are fine and clean. Frontis, with tissue guard, depicts "The Lady Margaret / Foundress of Christ's and St. John's Colleges.". Title page printed in black and red. Decorative marbled endpapers. 

In near fine, clean condition. A fine full leather binding. 

Book measures c. 4 3/8" x 6 1/2". Folding map measures c. 12" x 10".
