An appealing two volume set of mid- to late 19th century green half leather bindings. Ornately gilt spines in six compartments with gilt title and volume numbers on contrasting red leather labels. Leather, gently rubbed / chipped at extremities. Half leather and marbled paper covered boards are patterned ruled in blind. Joint leather gently rubbed. Bindings tight and sound. Marbled edges match boards.
Mostly clean internally. Marbled endpapers match boards. Old bookplates on inside front boards and f.f.e. "George de Benneville Keim (?)" and "George Morris Piersol". This latter bookplate depicts a skull and Mayan-like pyramid (surely symbolic for some secret society).
In VG condition, overall. An attractive set of 19th century fine leather bindings.
Books measure c. 5 5/8" x 7 3/4". 334 / 312 pp.
