A charming early 19th century period full leather binding. Ornately gilt, smooth spine with gilt title on contrasting black leather label, spine lightly sunned with faded gilt. Boards ruled in
patterned gilt. Leather, overall, smooth and supple with some shallow scuffs on the bottom board. Binding tight and sound. Marbled edges.
Internally foxed. Two steel engravings at frontis - one frontis portrait of Campbell and a half title page with vignette depicting a native American. Half title engraving drawn by
R. Westall and engraved by G. B. Ellis. Marbled endpapers.
In VG+ condition. An attractive 19th century fine American leather binding.
Book measures c. 4 1/4" x 7 1/2". 183 pp + 38 pp notes.
