A mid-19th century period brown publisher's cloth. Charming gilt-pictorial front board and spine. Ornately gilt spine w/ gilt title at top, gilt rifles at bottom and a central Crusoe w/ parrot; cloth chipped at spine head. Top board w/ central gilt Crusoe making a chair while parrot, cat and dog look on; bottom board identically
blindstamped. Cloth split at board extremities, nicked at joint ends. Binding sound.
Internally foxed. Sixteen lithographed plates in sepia tone, most w/ tissue guard. Frontis depicts "Crusoe making his boat".
Nine page biography of Defoe bound at front.
In VG- clean condition. Lovely pictorial gilt binding w/ an appealing shelf appearance.
Book measures 5" x 8". 631 pp.
