Two volumes bound in one. Period 1/2 leather binding. Spine and top board
detached. Mostly clean internally w/ light ex-library stamp on title page and one other within the text block (but not on the engravings which are clean and well preserved), some finger soiling.
Two full title pages. Steel engraved frontis portrait of Washington. Steel engraved map of North America which is quite noticeably missing any interior continental detail in "Russian Possessions" (Alaska and northwestern Canada); also shows the Caribbean Sea. We count
32 fine steel engraved plates, total, including views of Schenectady, the White House in Washington D.C., Niagara Falls, the "Canal" at Mohawk River, West Point, Palisade Rocks on the Hudson River, New York w/ sailing ships, Albany NY, Passaic Falls (Source of) and Harper's Ferry.
In Good condition, overall, with clean plates - thus a good breaker or perfect for rebinding. Two volumes complete in one.
Book measures 9 1/4" x 11."
