Three full years of this mid-19th century children's periodical in publisher's period red cloth bindings. Ornately gilt smooth spines w/ title, cloth chipped and gilt rubbed at ends. Boards are tooled in rule w/ central gilt vase on top boards, cloth lightly soiled. Cloth split at joints. Bindings sound.

Internally foxed w/ numerous woodcut illustrations. Many stories and engravings of Native American Indians. A few pages in the 1842 volume were detached and have been hand-sewn back into the binding. Three full years (two six months volumes bound in each) w/ each title page showing 1847 as the date; indices and bindings show the dates respective of the issues.
In G+ to VG condition. A great set of three full years of this important American children's periodical. Books measure c. 6 3/8" x 9 1/8".
