A handsome late 19th century red quarter leather binding. Red leather spine is ornately gilt w/ gilt title and raised bands; leather lightly soiled w/ a short split at spine tail - highly appealing shelf appearance. Cloth boards are tooled in blind; board corners lightly bumped. Joint leather very gently rubbed in spots. Binding tight and sound. a.e.g. 

Light age-toning w/ light scattered foxing internally. Complete w/ twenty engravings and a double page map of the Siege of Paris. Frontis, with tissue guard, depicts "Le nouveau Bataillon de la Moselle.". Title page printed in black and red. Text in French. Front hinge cracked, board remains tightly bound. Silk moiré endpapers. 

An attractive 19th century red leather binding for this uncommon collection of news from the 1870s Siege of Paris. Book measures c. 7 3/4" x 10 3/4". 398 pp.
