A mid-19th century black
quarter leather binding w/ appealing shelf presentation. Ornately gilt spine in
six compartments w/ gilt title, raised bands. Half leather and marbled paper
covered boards. Binding slightly rubbed at extremities w/ light leather
scuffing; a tight, sound example. Marbled edges.
Mostly clean internally w/ six
engraved plates, including the half title page. Appears to lack frontis
portrait. Signature (?) penciled on an
endpaper "Melville Kane". Marbled endpapers.
In condition, overall. Book measures c. 6 1/4" x 9". 416 pp.
