An embossed 19th century publisher's period binding.  Smooth spine w/ gilt title, cloth chipped at spine ends. Top board embossed in black w/ glacial scene and title.  Binding tight, sound and mostly clean.

Mostly clean internally w/ sixteen illustrations and four maps. Frontis, with tissue guard, depicts the author. Double page maps "Lena Delta", "Course of the Jeannette", "Channels North of Baffin's Bay" and "Circumpolar Region".

In VG+ condition. A nice example complete w/ maps and illustrations.  Book measures c. 6 3/4" x 9".  497 pp. + ads.
