lovely mid-19th century period half leather binding w/ a fine shelf appearance. Spine
in five heavily gilt compartments w/ gilt title on contrasting red leather
label, raised bands, gilt is bright. Half leather and marble paper covered
boards gently rubbed, corners lightly bumped. Joint leather rubbed in spots.
Binding tight and sound. Marbled edges match boards.
Mostly
very clean internally w/ eight full page illustrations. Plates depict various
scenes from Edgeworth's tales. Frontis shows "Tomorrow. 'But cannot you
marry him without my consent?' Marbled endpapers match boards.
In
VG++ condition w/ a splendid shelf appearance. A charming example in
leather. Book measures c. 4 1/2" x 6 5/8." 413 pp.
