fine late 19th century period quarter leather binding. Spine in six
ornately gilt compartments w/ gilt title, raised bands - a splendid shelf
appearance. Brown marbled paper covered boards clean w/ corner wear.
Binding tight and sound. Deckled edges. Very
clean internally w/ nice, handmade paper. Charming steel engraved half title
page by E.de Malval w/ tissue guard. Title page printed in black and red.
Appears to be a limited edition. Marbled endpapers. In
near fine, clean condition. Uncommon memoir of Armand Louis de Gontaut, Duc de
Lauzun, afterwards Duc de Biron (1747 - 1793) in such fine binding. Lauzun was a
favorite of Marie Antoinette. Book measures c. 5 3/4" x 8 1/4". 266
