Four
attractive leather bound volumes of Sir Walter Scott:
Ornately
gilt spines in six compartments, gilt title on contrasting red and black leather
labels, raised bands; leather chipped at spine extremities. Gilt ruled tree calf
boards are mostly smooth and supple w/ minor edgewear. Joints cracked but
hinges holding firmly. Patterned gilt inner dentelles. Bindings
sound. a.e.g.
Mostly
clean internally w/ one book exhibiting very light, very minor dampstaining/minor
wrinkling the a few of the pages edges - just barely and confined to the margin
(hardly worth mentioning). Each volume contains four detailed lithographed
plates depicting various scenes and characters from Scott's tales, most w/
tissue guards. Marbled endpapers.
In
all, an attractive set w/ an appealing shelf appearance. In VG to VG+
clean condition. Books measure c. 4 3/8" x 6 3/8".
