James Russell Lowell titles illustrated w/ steel portraits and photogravures. Three
fine late 19th / early 20th century green three-quarter leather bindings.
Brown leather spines are ornately gilt w/ title and floral devices, raised
bands. Green three-quarter leather and marbled paper covered boards are
ruled in gilt. Joint leather very gently rubbed. Bindings tight and sound. t.e.g.
Mostly
very clean internally w/ illustrations (steel engraved portraits and
photogravures). Subjects covered include Walter Savage Landor,
Walton, Marlowe, Webster, Don Quixote, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Garfield,
Abraham Lincoln and the Reconstruction. In
VG+ to near fine, clean condition w/ minimal edgewear. Appealing
bookplates "James B. Dill." Once part of a larger set, now
