appealing half leather binding. Spine in six ornately gilt compartments, gilt
title on contrasting leather labels, slightly raised bands, gilt gently rubbed -
an attractive shelf appearance. Half leather and marbled paper covered boards
are mostly bright and clean. Binding tight and sound. t.e.g.
Mostly
very clean internally w/ nine lithographed plates. Frontis depicts "The
Terrible Year", a graphic image showing several dead men scattered in the
snow. Marbled endpapers match boards.
Once
part of a larger set, now complete within itself. Book measures c. 5 1/4" x
7 3/4". Uncontinuous pagination.
